About the Provider

Sheila Thompson has over two decades of experience as a direct support professional in residential services, both group homes and apartment programs, with Alexandria CSB and RACSB and a private provider. She has previous experience working as an EMT as well as working in a nursing home setting for approximately fifteen years. Additionally, Sheila has experience working in a psychiatrics program with children, both in acute and residential settings.

She is a mother of three adult daughters. One resides in the home and will serve as one of the back-up workers for the service. Additionally, they have a sweet, friendly dog named Bella. Sheila is a minister and continues to preach and remain involved in other church activities. She participates in missionary work and has traveled all over the world, in addition to mission work in the US. In her free time, Sheila enjoys watching movies, sports, and plays, as well as traveling for day trips or scenic car rides.

About the Home

Her one-story home resides in a quiet, country setting and includes a living room, den, open kitchen and dining room, a large backyard, and a back deck for enjoyment. The home also offers access to nearby parks and beaches in the area.

I've worked in group homes for a long time, with larger groups of people. Being a Sponsored Residential Provider and working in a smaller setting, gives me the opportunity to give individuals what should be free to them, to be loved and cared for, and to feel safe. I want to support someone to grow in independence, to help them think for themselves and do for themselves, to support their ideas and dreams, and to help them find themselves.
