About the Provider

Kathi worked as a Project Manager at Framatome for 29 years prior to starting the new adventure of supporting her daughter as a Sponsored Residential provider in 2019. Kathi serves as a board member for Challenged Sports Exchange. Kathi is also a past Board member for Lynchburg Sheltered Industries and the Special Olympics.

Kathi is a very active, involved parent. Her adult son and his family live close, as does her mother, whom she assists with attending appointments. Family is very important to Kathi and they spend time together regularly. Kathi ensures her daughter lives a very active life, involved in her community. They enjoy camping, traveling, and getting together with friends locally. Being physically active and healthy is very important to Kathi. She walks 4-5 miles five days a week and prepares healthy meals. Kathi and her daughter are very involved with the local non-profit, The Challenged Sports Exchange. They also attend church, are members of the Moose Lodge, and enjoy doing arts and crafts projects together.

About the Home

Kathi’s two-story home is located in a quiet neighborhood, conducive for walking and enjoying time outside in the yard. The main level of the home offers a large living room with a gas fireplace, a nicely equipped kitchen, and a dedicated dining room. Additionally, there are three bedrooms and 1 and 1/2 bathrooms. The laundry is on the main level as well as ample storage. Kathi’s bedroom is on the terrace level which includes a full bathroom and a second living room with another gas fireplace. The home has a large deck and a front porch with rocking chairs, as well as a patio off of the terrace level. Kathi’s home is very comfortable, clean, and welcoming.

Kathi has a clear understanding and appreciation of person-centered practices. She provides ample opportunities for community and activities, while also honoring the individual’s autonomy and flexibility to design their days to suit their own desires.
