About Us
Care Rooted in Respect, Quality, and Community
We are dedicated to providing the best person-centered disability support in Virginia. Wall Residences offers residential and community-based services across the commonwealth.
History
Wall Residences was founded in December 1995 with a mission to provide the highest quality, person-centered disability support possible. In the three decades since, we have continually innovated and grown while keeping our founding values at the forefront of all we do.
Our Roots: Sponsored Residential
Jack Wall and Kamala Bauers operated the very first Wall Residences Sponsored Residential service from their home. They hired a Program Manager to oversee their operations and ensure they were doing everything completely ethically. The company quickly grew due to an intense need across the state. Our founders looked for families with the right skills, attitude, and home to provide the highest standard of support.
Growth of Services
Not only did the number of Sponsored Residential homes grow, but the families we support and officials from the state requested that Wall expand our services to offer other models of support, including Community Engagement, Community Coaching, and small 4-5 bed Group Homes.
Becoming Employee Owned
In 2009, Jack and Kamala began formally thinking about the future of the company beyond their retirement. While offers by other companies to purchase Wall Residences were plentiful and generous, they determined the best way to ensure the continuation of the quality and culture they established was to transition to an employee-owned company. The ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) was established with the first transaction in 2012. In October 2020, the company became 100% employee owned.
New Services and Sister Companies
“All are leaders” has been deeply embedded in our company culture from the earliest days. As employee-owners brought ideas for needed services, Wall continued to diversify to meet the needs of the communities we serve. We currently are three sister companies offering residential, community-based, clinical, and non-emergency medical transportation services.
